McCall, Bradford City boss jealous of other teams returning to training

Bradford City boss jealous of other teams returning to training

Bradford City head coach Stuart McCall has told the Telegraph and Argus that he is jealous of other teams that get to return to training.

While Sky Bet League Two has now been finished for the season due to the Coronavirus pandemic, other leagues, and the teams that would qualify for the play-offs in League Two, are preparing to play again soon as part of Project Restart. This meant these teams have been returning to training this week though it has been under very strict rules in order to reduce the risk of the virus spreading.

Bradford’s season is over, meaning that they will not be playing until whenever the new season starts. They have started the standard off-season work of releasing players but McCall has admitted that he is jealous watching other teams starting to train ahead of the restart. This has been triggered with Northampton Town boss Keith Curle talking about how his side will soon be back in training.

McCall said: “I’m envious reading about Keith Curle looking forward to getting back to training with Northampton.

“You turn on the telly and watch the Premier League lads and bits about them being able to train again.

“It gets you going and you want to be back. It is tough.

“Obviously I’m not stupid. I understand the situation at the moment.

“You only have to watch the news and see what’s going on at Southend beach to realise you’ve got to be careful. Everyone knows that.

“But over 1,000 football people were tested first off and only two came back positive. The numbers have been very low and that’s a sign that it’s going in the right way.”
