QPR and Middlesbrough submit loan deal offer for Burnley forward

According to Sky Sports (via Gazette Live), Middlesbrough and Queens Park Rangers have made loan offers for Burnley striker Nahki Wells.

Nahki Wells is currently not in the plans of Burnley manager Sean Dyche, with Ashley Barnes, Jay Rodriguez, Chris Wood and Matej Vydra ahead of him in the pecking order at present.

Wells spent last season out on loan at QPR, where he scored nine goals in 43 league in all competitions across the campaign. The forward is a proven goalscorer in the EFL, having successful spells at the likes of Bradford City and Huddersfield Town.

According to Sky, QPR and Middlesbrough have made loan offers for the Burnley’s striker, and Birmingham, West Brom and Bristol City are also keen on a deal to sign the 29 year old on a season-long loan. However, both West Brom and Bristol City have prioritised a permanent deal for Charlie Austin from Southampton.

Boro currently have Britt Assombalonga, Ashley Fletcher and Rudy Gestede at their disposal, and could be looking to replace Jordan Hugill, who returned to his parent club West Ham United at the end of last season following the end of his loan.

Hugill has since signed for QPR on loan, and although on one hand Wells could be Hugill’s replacement at Boro, he could be Wells strike partner at Loftus Road this season. QPR also have Aramide Oteh and Jan Mlakar on their books, but it is believed Wells is a top target to help provide competition in this area of the pitch.
