Five potential candidates to replace Paul Scholes at Oldham Athletic

Paul Scholes has left his position as manager of League Two side Oldham Athletic. Here are five potential candidates to replace him-

Mick Priest– He was Scholes’ assistant manager and has been placed in caretaker charge. If he impresses in the game(s) he has at the helm he could be considered for the full-time role by the owners of the club.

Pete Wild- The lifetime fans of Oldham was their caretaker manager prior to Scholes’ appointment. He won four out of eight games in charge and oversaw the Latics’ impressive FA Cup third round win away at Premier League side Fulham in January.

Owen Coyle- The 52-year-old is another name to throw into the hat. He has previously managed St Johnstone, Burnley, Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic, Houston Dynamo, Blackburn Rovers and Ross County. Could he return to the dugout at Boundary Park?
